Labor unions helped build America’s middle class, and organized labor remains critical to fulfilling America’s basic bargain: If you work hard and do your part, you should be able to get ahead and stay ahead. We need to strengthen and protect America’s workforce. No one working full-time should be struggling to meet basics needs.

The skills needed to thrive in the 21st-century economy have changed, which is why I will support legislation that:

  • Encourages employers to support their workers with high-quality training and skill-building opportunities.
  • Guarantees a livable wage.
  • Attracts good-paying jobs to our District through federal investment in our region’s infrastructure, manufacturing, research and technology, clean energy, and small businesses.
  • Protects freelance, salaried, and hourly workers from exploitation including wage theft and predatory practices.
